Everyonce in a while someone tries to reinvent the wheel when it comes to a gadget. Some excel, and some fail. This particular product fails at everything it attempts.
This new mouse stands on it’s side, the company says that it is a more natural way for someone to use their hand. I, for one beg to differ. Using my scroll wheel like a trigger isn’t something I need, and dragging the side of my hand doesn’t seem more benficial. I don’t have a clue how this thing helps me. I’d rather need a handcast than ever be caught using this. However, if you like wrist joints in tact, it comes in at $63
Apple always likes being the next big thing. With each passing computer season they seem to up the bar of making the home network a little closer
This season will be no different. The 802.11n Airport Extreme doubles the range, and speeds up the ability for upload and download. They have MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) capability. Where old routers wold send out everyones information at one time, the Apple new router sends out each persons individually, to make speeds more efficient.
Rumor around computer circles is that the new Extreme looks to not hit shelves until the release of leopard. It will have the same price point at the original Aiport extreme at launch.
Laser Printers have always been an office staple, since prices were so high. They became such an aid to print lots of copies at a high rate, and less crumple on the paper. However, as the prices drop, should you be in the market for a laser printer? Here is a few questions to ask yourself.
Do I print a large volume of pages? Some people don’t print often, but when they do it’s a large amount of paper. Sitting next to the old inkjet for an hour just isn’t fun. You can’t leave due to paper jams. Lasers also print 2 sided effortlessly, so they look much more professional.
Here it is - the 1 Terabyte hard drive and it’s from Hitachi! The company’s 1TB hard drive meets the needs of consumers who want to create, share and store their digital information, and lots of it. Hitachi’s Deskstar 7K1000 will begin shipping to retail customers in the first quarter of 2007 at a suggested retail price of $399 (USD), or 40 cents per gigabyte (GB).
Now that is still economical with most of us having stashes of digital things to be stores and I’m thinking of my picture files and thousands I have in different CDs and pen drives and memory sticks. Hitachi has also announced a CinemaStar version 1TB hard drive, for digital video recording (DVR) applications.
With the amount of digital information homes are storing it is inevitable that alongside every desktop PC will be some sort of massive storage unit. However, any decent solutions only offer a couple hundred gigabytes of storage and those in the terabyte range seem to be pretty expensive. Maxtor sees an opening that needs to be filled and they are looking to do it with their OneTouch III Turbo line of external storage devices.
The device can work in either a RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration and offers up to 1TB of storage capacity. A triple interface (FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0) makes it accessible to all modern PCs.
