Samsung Bordeaux Like A Vacation

samsung bordeaux

Samsung plans to trick you into buying its new Bordeaux line of LCD HDTVs by appealing to your vanity. The 32 and 40-inch LCD TVs don’t look all that different from last year’s LCDs, but when the bezel is coated in shiny black plastic with blue hints it’s very hard to say no.

As for stats, if you really want to trust machine translation, then we see a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a 178-degree viewing angle. There also appears to be a USB 2.0 port, used to connect things like thumb drives filled with memorable digital photos. Don’t forget the standard HDMI ports (or you can man up a buy an AV receiver). Bordeaux 2007 looks to be unleashed in April.

The TV packs a serious punch thanks to its 1080p resolution, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and 105% color gamut. Philips also showed off 5 other LED-based displays ranging in size from 7 to 26 inches. There’s no word on pricing, but at this rate, we should find out sooner than later.

Panasonic TH-50PX600U Review

Panasonic TVPanasonic has always been a figure in the TV industry. Their 50″ TV series was a step to take them from a figure to a powerhouse in the new Slimline TV models.

Overall this TV is a good TV. The TV allows users to watch their digital images, provided they have an SD card. This will also hold true for TV firmware updates. You will be able to update your TV to better resolution, or capabilites if you have a big enough card.

Best Selling Big Screen TV

The NDP has come up with another interesting report (previous one was about Video Games) and this time the target are the best selling TV manufacturer during 2006 on the US. So, which company do you think got the title? The answer is Sony.

Stephen Baker, Analyst for NDP, comments:

The final December numbers confirm that Sony captured the top spot in the United States for the overall TV category in terms of both dollars and units. The company was particularly strong in the big screen category, 32-inch and above, taking top position in terms of both dollar and units across the board, including LCD and micro-display.
