Oakley is pushing out farther into it’s “Wearable Electronics” with their newer Mp3 sunglasses: The Oakley Thump Pro. What’s new about them you ask? They are thinner, more light weight and durable.

Athletes train all the time, any weather any conditions. These are designed to be water resistant of any kind. Rain, Sweat, Snow any kind of moisture these glasses will repel to the best of their ability. They also have more of a tight grip and the rubber really clings so that if you jump make quick head motions they wont pop off.
Audio
The MP3 playing capability is the reason why we’re reviewing it, so let’s get to it. The sunglasses are basically a USB flash drive, where you can copy the music over to your sunglasses via USB. It doesn’t’ get easier, and if you wanted to, you can make it a plain flash drive and carry your info on your glasses.
Quality? Outstanding. They really mute out any unpleasant noise, to the point where you get lost in your music while your training. I think that was the intention, and it’s actually quiet great.

Audio specs
• 1GB (240 songs) / 512MB / 256MB models
• 6 hours of playback time (tested by Oakley with the max. volume)
• AAC, MP3, WMA and Audible formats supported
The use is simple. There are 5 buttons (two on the left, three on the right): Previous / Play-Pause / Next / Volume up / Volume down. It is also possible to activate additional play modes like shuffling with a button combination. You’ll take a few days to get used to it, but once you do, it’ll be great. There is also a function where you can press two buttons and go into “Overdrive” which is your favorite music, so you can skip to a faster song, if you need that extra boost.
The earbuds move into any comfortable position. With both in, they are a little tricky to remove. People like the flipped up glass version of the first thumps. I thought they were tacky and am glad people are committing to wearing sunglasses, and don’t flip them up like old people. Also, the earbuds are hard. They are hard because of a rubber seal to keep sweat out of your ear, and there by keeping it away from the earbud. Amazing design.
Sunglasses
They are Oakley’s. Lets be honest. Top of the line sunglasses. They pretty much are indestructible. You can switch the lenses on these if you scratch them up too much, but it’s rare to find someone who’s actually switched them out. They are a bit bigger in size than regular glasses. Expect that.

Conclusion 9.12 out of 10
Comfortable, form fitting, excellent. They give great sound, they don’t weigh too much and they are good at what they do. 6 hours of batter will outlast the most hard core trainer. A must by for a summer athlete. No wire tangles, no worry about iPods in your pocket.
