The Nokia N800 is a quandary. Is it a cellphone, or a gadget? It’s a gadget, which is not something to be concerned from with the Nokia camp. Nokia has been making great gadgets for years, we’ve just never seen them states side.

Is this a replacement for your cellphone? No. Replacement for your laptop? No. It’s really it’s own gadget. It’s the ultimate compliment to any person on the go, and needs to be connected. I find laptops have become cumbersome, as they get smaller, there are more and more things you connect to them, more files you carry and it honestly becomes a rat race. The best thing in the world would be something pocket size, hoodie pocket size so you can just pick it up and go. This new breed of gadget is just that. This provides all the internet releated features (especially blogger friendly features) and puts them in a device that is outstanding.
If the Nokia N800 is able to capitalize on the growth of the Internet by providing an easy way to access most of these Internet features we could have a real winner on our hands.

Physical Aspects
The Nokia is made out of a thick plastic, not plastic in the way you would think. The plastic is durable yet light weight. I took it on a trip with me out into the country for a party I had to attend. I didn’t think of it much in my cargo pocket, but after a little banging around, no scratches, dents, no even sign of damage. The only surface area of the Nokia N800 that attracts finger prints besides the display is the metallic frame. Only when the display is off do finger prints become visible. Currently, the Nokia N800 only comes in one color solution, a combination of silver and black. I love the way it looks. No keyboard, just a few buttons and a screen. It looks clean and simple and is very much so.

Speakers – One of the places this really shines is the speakers. Nokia put a lot of time and affection into them, and they are borderline amazing. After hearing many deadpan sounding iPod portable speakers, this is outstanding. If you turn them up to high, they get the same sound as any other portable do, but at lower, and clearer levels, they truly shine.

Display – 4.1 inches may not sound like a lot. 800 x 480 pixels is really quiet good for it’s size, but the sharpness is undeniable. It’s really sharp and clear, quiet reactive too, the pixels don’t have too much memory. Not a lot of colors, at 65k but to be honest, it’s only noticeable when you’re showing a WIDE range of one color. Most won’t use this for pictures though.
Size – I thought it’d be about the size of a PSP, something larger, a little bigger than pocket size. Honestly, it’s really smaller than that and WAS pocketsize. the Nokia N800 is significantly smaller than the PSP, especially in thickness. The actual dimensions of the Nokia N800 are 2.95 x 5.67 x 0.51 inches (75 x 144 x 13 mm) and weighs 7.27 ounces (206 g).

Overall - 9 out of 10. This is outstanding, and it’s flash memory. It’s opensource, so the lifespan of this gadget could easily be into the years
